Principal Dentist, Irene Kaimakamis set up K Dental Studios with cousin Panayiotis Kaimakamis in 2014 after a period of preparations, designs and building works. Their family of engineers, architects and interior designers helped to turn the previously occupied space into a beautifully modern dental practice. After having worked in various dental practices in London, Irene’s vision was simple. The practice would be equipped with the latest technology equipment, high in quality materials and of course have the best team to be able to provide general and specialist dental care all under one roof.
The team was built very quickly as all members knew each other either from University or through working together in practices and hospitals. This friendship combined with the knowledge of how each other works allows for a collaborative approach to be taken when planning and treating patients. To read further about the team members click here.
The Studios were designed with the patient’s comfort in mind but also with the idea that each dentist, specialist, nursing and reception staff require specific features in place to perform at the highest possible standard. No expense was spared inside the studios themselves, with top of the range sterilisation equipment and machinery that is able to take panoramic and lateral cephalograph radiographs, as well as a Carl Zeiss Microscope to be able to perform certain treatments under the highest magnification, such as root canal therapy. An in house dental laboratory allows for easy and quick manufacturing of bleaching trays, which consequently reduces waiting times for patients. With this facility Teeth whitening treatment can be started as quickly as 24 hours after seeing the patient in most cases. To read more about the facilities please click here.
Irene wanted to build a practice where visiting patients and the surrounding community are educated about dental diseases and the ways in which they can prevent it.
“It is very easy to treat patients, since we have the best team in house to do it. The most important thing however is to be able to teach patients on ways to avoid us.” Irene Kaimakamis
Each patient has a 45 minute to an hour long initial consultation where photos and X-rays are taken to explain the nature of their dental problems in detail. All treatment options available to the patient are outlined until the patient is able to make an informed and educated decision.
The team believe in education outside the Studios and visit various schools in London providing Oral Health Awareness talks to children, parents and teachers. The children are also invited to have complimentary check-ups at the practice during the Studios’ regular Children’s Week.
Providing educational seminars for dentists is also part of the K Dental Studios’ ideal. All K Dental Studios’ dentists and specialists have further training which they are happy to share with general dentists in their community. The regular Study Club evening meetings are a great way for dental knowledge to be shared
Over the years the Studios have been increasing in popularity and have been invited to feature in various dental and non-dental magazines. They have also spoken at a number of functions including the annual BBC Roadshow.
The practice’s hard work and dedication, together with their commitment to patients was acknowledged at the 2016 Private Dentistry Awards where they were awarded, London’s Practice of the Year.
“We are very proud of our achievements so far and aim to continue to provide premium quality general and specialist dental care, whilst giving advice to patients and all in our community. Our patients acknowledge the ethos and values under which we practice and this is why they continue to come back to us every year.” Irene Kaimakamis
